Our commitment is to use art workshop to foster self-expression and confidence in children and youth who live with visible and/or invisible disabilities to explore life’s possibilities. We aim to improve social connection and inclusion through the power of art
Simply put, we aim to always Paint A SMILE.
Paint A Smile Canada (PAS) is a Toronto-based non-profit organization that utilizes the creative process of art to engage and nurture the authentic voice of our underserved youth. Through partnerships with schools and other non-profit organizations, PAS provides art workshops on a weekly to monthly basis to children and youth under age 25 in the community using the SMILE formula: Support, Mentor, Inspire, Love, Empower.
Since its inception in 2015, PAS has served over 1000 kids in the Greater Toronto Area. Collaborating agencies and schools such as: Campooch for Children with Cancer, John McCrae Public School for Children with Physical Disabilities, 360 Kids for Crisis Kids, and more, have acknowledged and recognized Paint A Smile’s contribution to the community. With their help, Paint A Smile’s workshops will grow to reach more kids in the coming years!
“Art empowers people to have a better understanding of themselves and foster a strong belief in their capabilities no matter what the circumstances. Art helps people realize the potential that they have within themselves and inspires them to explore unlimited possibilities.” – Sylvia Chan, Founder of Paint A Smile, Artist in Residence at York Region District School Board, Owner of Sylvia Chan Art
